This is our favourite place to stay. It’s located in a great spot to explore the surrounding areas. The Merlin shepherds hut is finished to a high standard and attention to detail. It is very clean, it’s got its own private garden that’s not over looked. Perfect getaway.
Had the best night sleep of my life in one of the huts, can highly recommend them!! It was so peaceful and waking up to gorgeous landscapes. The hosts are so welcoming and a very lovely and friendly couple! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!!
Just returned from a really enjoyable weekend at Derbyshire Hills, Tam and Will are super campsite hosts making us feel really welcome. We rented the larger converted railway carriage which was superbly converted, it having everything you would need for a stay, from the little cooker and fridge to the lovely bathroom and gorgeous view. We also had two camper van pitches also with fantastic views and we used Derbyshire Hills really good facilities (toilet, shower & washing up area). It's a perfect quiet site with two lovely pubs within walking distance, we visited the Barrel for drinks and the Bulls head for dinner on Saturday night (so pleased we booked ahead, it was busy and food was great).
We have just had a weekend at Derbyshire Hills and can honestly say it is one of the loveliest sites we have visited. Tam and Will greet you with the warmest welcome and go above and beyond to make your stay a pleasant one. A lovely touch is that they also come around at leaving time to ask how your stay has been and wish you safe travels. There are great walks direct from the site ( Eyam is only an hour away) and there are loads of attractions within easy driving distance. Most of all though is the peace and tranquility, no traffic noise, just the occasional passing glider circling overhead. Delightful, Thank you. Chris and Sue.
Just spent an extra-long weekend at this gem of a campsite with family (including the dogs) and cannot fault it. We were in a campervan and separate tent whilst my mum was in Merlin, one of the shepherd huts. First of all, everything was immaculately presented and clean, both in Merlin and the general toilet/shower block. Merlin is enclosed in a good sized garden, which was exceptionally handy for the dogs and meant they didn't have to be on their leads 24/7. The views are simply lovely and whilst it is a small campsite, no-one is crammed in and there is plenty of space. It was also very peaceful - all we could hear was the birds and some lambs, which was just blissful. As for Tam and Will, the owners, they are incredibly friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble - we are grateful that they shared their little piece of heaven with us, because it was perfect.
Peaceful, clean and idyllic campsite. Shower/toilet facilities very clean. Beautiful views. Owners were very helpful and gave us good recommendations for local walks.
Spent two nights with cycling friends in the caravan . The caravan was spotless and had everything you needed especially a hot shower after a days riding. The site is also in a great location with lovely views over the countryside and best of all two great pubs nearby ( The barrel inn and the Bulls Head -only had food at the Bull but was fantastic and Barrel the food also looks good ) . Booking the caravan was easy and the owners were very helpful. Definitely would stay again .
Very lovely 2 night stay in this campsite with friends. Very clean toilet and shower - the owner keeps it very well-maintained. Also really helpful and kind, made us feel welcome. It’s a very peaceful and quiet location, very beautiful in the morning.
A lovely, quiet little campsite based centrally in the Peaks with easy access to a lot of the main sights (Mam Tor, various Edges, Eyam, Bakewell, Monsal Head etc). Shepherds hut was clean, tidy and well supplied, very comfortable. Good, clean facilities as well. Cooked one night, lots of night pubs nearby. Great and friendly communication from Tam. Great for a weekend getaway and will look forward to returning.
2 night stay in the static caravan. We had a lovely peaceful break. This maybe an older van, or vintage! However, it's immaculate inside, with clean and comfortable bedding. We had everything we needed to cook and evening meal and enjoy it outside sat at the garden furniture! The only reason for 4 stars is that the second bed is rather short! And the static hasn't got 5 star comfort as it's a vintage van - that is fully transparent when booking. It is a fantastic base if you don't fancy camping and the price is realistic. Hosts were really friendly and provided us with an additional fan to keep our dog cool. They run the site really efficiently and do everything they can do to ensure that you have a good stay. It's a fab spot for exploring the Peak and the open 'Derbyshire Hills' are glorious. The evening skies up the lane just outside the site are wonderful. The site is small and very quiet. People were friendly, it had a small community feel, where people shared a cheery 'good morning'. We will return 🙂 Thank you.
Tam and Will were incredible hosts who went above and beyond during my stay. The Merlin cabin was so cosy and comfortable and the views were incredible. Definitely would recommend coming with a car!
Lovely quiet location, with super clean toilets and showers (1 M & 1 F) toilet/shower blocks so 1 toilet shower each, So if you're in a rush, don't leave your morning shower till the last minute. Site has multiple elec hookup points and room for a handful of tents/campervans. Relaxing site, can walk to nearby pubs (under a mile) but no cafe etc on site, so useful to pack some snacks in case you get rained in as we did. Tam & Will are lovely friendly hosts
I have just stayed for 3 days at Derbyshire Hills with a mixed group of friends, we stayed in various accommodations across the site, Caravan, Huts and Camping Plots. 14 of us in total.
Unanimously everyone loved the site, good facilities, great location, lovey views, quiet and close to several pubs that provided a range of catering options to suit all tastes and pockets.
Tam & Will (The proprietors) were great hosts, very supportive of our needs, friendly, unpretentious full of local knowledge.
Absolutely amazing campsite with very welcoming owners Tam and Will. We loved the small and quiet adults only site which really gave us a proper reset in nature. Great views across the fields. Facilities were always clean and well maintained, and great to see recycling bins for everything. Convenient location to explore nearby areas. Would 100% recommend and we’ll be back in the future! Thank you 😊
